About Melissa DiVita
Fourth-generation Marin native. In real estate since 2003. Tiburon resident, Belvedere born and raised.
I grew up here, and I never really left
My family has been in Marin for four generations, going back to my great-grandfather in Fairfax. I grew up in Belvedere, went to Marin Catholic High School, and then Santa Clara University. When people ask me what makes Marin different, I usually start with the things you only learn by living here: which coves get the afternoon wind, which streets flood in a king tide, which hillsides keep the sun in winter.
My husband Michael and I have lived in Tiburon for well over a decade. All three of our kids went through Belvedere Nursery School and the Reed schools. Our son is at Redwood High now, where he plays on the varsity tennis team, and our twin daughters will be there soon. I’ve been a class mom more times than I can count, and I still volunteer at school events. We’re members of the Tiburon Yacht Club and the Belvedere Tennis Club. This is home.

23 years in Bay Area real estate
Before real estate, I worked in the securities industry in sales and marketing. That job taught me to read a market, explain risk plainly and never oversell. I brought all of that with me in 2003, when I started in residential real estate with Hill & Co. in San Francisco, one of the city’s most respected independent firms.
Today I’m with Compass, working out of the Belvedere-Tiburon office at 1550 Tiburon Boulevard. I focus on Tiburon, Belvedere, Mill Valley, Kentfield and the rest of southern and central Marin, with a lot of waterfront and view property along the way: boat-dock homes in Paradise Cay and Timmers Landing, hillside homes with city views, and classic Belvedere estates.
What I’m known for
- Getting homes ready to sell. I’ve remodeled many homes myself, and I work with a trusted team of contractors, designers and stagers. We focus on the upgrades that return more than they cost, at fair trade pricing.
- Straight talk on value. I’ll tell you what I think a house is worth and why, even when it isn’t what you hoped to hear.
- Local relationships. Twenty-three years of working with other agents, inspectors, lenders and contractors in Marin means fewer surprises and more quiet opportunities.
- Buyers relocating from San Francisco. I started my career in the city, so I understand both sides of the bridge.
