Marin Clubs Guide
Tennis, swim, golf and fitness clubs, including the waitlists nobody tells you about
Last updated September 2026 · By Melissa DiVita, REALTOR®, Compass · DRE #01387955 · Marin native, in real estate since 2003
Clubs are a big part of Marin life, especially for families, and some of them affect where you should buy. A few have residency requirements, and several have waitlists measured in years. My family belongs to the Belvedere Tennis Club and the Tiburon Yacht Club, so I know how this works firsthand. Here’s what’s publicly available. Fees change, so confirm directly with each club.
Swim and tennis clubs
| Club | Town | Membership notes (as published, Sept 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Tiburon Peninsula Club | Tiburon | 11 tennis courts, 3 pools, fitness, restaurant, childcare. Only residents of Tiburon, Belvedere and Strawberry can join, and there’s a waitlist. Initiation $34,000 plus $3,400 deposit; dues about $440/month plus capital charges. |
| Belvedere Tennis Club | Tiburon/Belvedere | Tennis, saline pool kept at 85°F year-round, fitness. Membership by invitation from existing members. |
| Mill Valley Tennis Club | Mill Valley | Founded 1929. Tennis waitlist 6+ years, swim 5+ years. Two member sponsors required. Initiation roughly $9,000–$14,000. |
| Scott Valley Swim & Tennis | Mill Valley | Member-owned equity club (about 430 memberships) with pools, tennis and summer camp. |
| The Club at Harbor Point | Strawberry | Private tennis club on Richardson Bay with 7 lighted courts. |
| Marin Tennis Club | San Rafael | Private tennis club. |
Why this matters when you buy: if the Tiburon Peninsula Club is important to you, buying on the Tiburon Peninsula is the only way in. If you want Mill Valley Tennis Club, put your name on the waitlist as soon as you’re serious about the town.
Bay Club (join any time)
Bay Club has several Marin locations: Bay Club Marin (Corte Madera), Bay Club Ross Valley (Kentfield), Bay Club Rolling Hills (Novato) and StoneTree Golf Club (Novato). There’s no invitation or residency requirement, so it’s often the first club new arrivals join.
Golf
| Course | Town | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Meadow Club | Fairfax | Private, founded 1927; Alister MacKenzie design |
| Marin Country Club | Novato | Private; golf, tennis, pickleball, pool |
| StoneTree Golf Club | Novato | Bay Club |
| Peacock Gap Golf Club | San Rafael | Public |
| Mill Valley Golf Course | Mill Valley | Public 9-hole course in the redwoods |

Pickleball!
Pickleball has taken over Marin, and it’s the easiest way to meet your neighbors when you move here. It’s also a hot topic: when the Tiburon Peninsula Club converted a tennis court, the noise debate went to the town, and in March 2026 Tiburon voted to extend the club’s pickleball hours. Here’s where to play.
| Where | Town | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Hill Recreation Area | Novato | Six dedicated courts with permanent nets and a paddle rack for free drop-in play, plus indoor courts in the Hill Gym. |
| McInnis Park | San Rafael | Four dedicated county courts. One is walk-on, and the others can be reserved months ahead. |
| Flyte Racquet Club | San Rafael | A big indoor pickleball club on Smith Ranch Road with 23 courts and open play for non-members. Great when it rains. |
| The Ranch courts | Tiburon / Belvedere | Two courts with pickleball nets. You buy an annual key ($180 for residents in 2026) and reserve up to an hour a day. |
| MLK campus, Marinship Park and Southview Park | Sausalito | Free open play at MLK, lighted courts with a membership key at Marinship, and first-come courts at Southview. |
| Piper Park | Larkspur | Rotational open play with a paddle rack at set times. |
| Boyle Park and Eastwood Park | Mill Valley / Tam Valley | Pickleball programs through Mill Valley Rec at Boyle, and a tennis court lined for four pickleball courts at Eastwood. |
| Golden Gate Village | Marin City | Four dedicated courts added in 2023. |
| Memorial Park | San Anselmo | A pickleball pilot on the tennis courts since 2024, with court upgrades approved in 2026. |
| Osher Marin JCC | San Rafael | Indoor gym courts, with public play for a fee. |
Private clubs are adding it too, including Marin Country Club and Rolling Hills Club. If pickleball matters to you, tell me, and I’ll point out which neighborhoods are a short walk or ride from the courts.
For the car guys: Club Wheelhouse
Marin finally has a clubhouse for people who love cars. Club Wheelhouse on Paradise Drive in Corte Madera is a newer addition, and it calls itself a home away from home for the automotive-inspired. It’s part clubhouse, part co-working space and part vehicle storage.
- Storage with a concierge: private, alarmed and monitored storage in southern Marin and Sonoma, with delivery, detailing and even DMV help. That’s a big deal here, because a lot of beautiful Marin homes have one- or two-car garages.
- The social side: member gatherings and events, plus a space you can rent for private and nonprofit events.
- Track time: the Classic Cup Series puts members in Porsche GT3 Cup cars at Sonoma Raceway.

Financing in Marin. Many Marin homes need jumbo financing: the 2026 conforming limit here is $1,249,125, so with 20% down, homes above about $1.56 million usually mean a jumbo loan. My husband Michael DiVita is a mortgage broker and owner of DiVita Home Finance, with access to 40+ wholesale lenders, and he’s a great resource for jumbo and bank-statement loans.
