Marin Clubs Guide

Tennis, swim, golf and fitness clubs, including the waitlists nobody tells you about

Last updated September 2026 · By Melissa DiVita, REALTOR®, Compass · DRE #01387955 · Marin native, in real estate since 2003

Clubs are a big part of Marin life, especially for families, and some of them affect where you should buy. A few have residency requirements, and several have waitlists measured in years. My family belongs to the Belvedere Tennis Club and the Tiburon Yacht Club, so I know how this works firsthand. Here’s what’s publicly available. Fees change, so confirm directly with each club.

Swim and tennis clubs

ClubTownMembership notes (as published, Sept 2026)
Tiburon Peninsula ClubTiburon11 tennis courts, 3 pools, fitness, restaurant, childcare. Only residents of Tiburon, Belvedere and Strawberry can join, and there’s a waitlist. Initiation $34,000 plus $3,400 deposit; dues about $440/month plus capital charges.
Belvedere Tennis ClubTiburon/BelvedereTennis, saline pool kept at 85°F year-round, fitness. Membership by invitation from existing members.

Why this matters when you buy: if the Tiburon Peninsula Club is important to you, buying on the Tiburon Peninsula is the only way in. If you want Mill Valley Tennis Club, put your name on the waitlist as soon as you’re serious about the town.

Bay Club (join any time)

Bay Club has several Marin locations: Bay Club Marin (Corte Madera), Bay Club Ross Valley (Kentfield), Bay Club Rolling Hills (Novato) and StoneTree Golf Club (Novato). There’s no invitation or residency requirement, so it’s often the first club new arrivals join.

Pickleball!

Pickleball has taken over Marin, and it’s the easiest way to meet your neighbors when you move here. It’s also a hot topic: when the Tiburon Peninsula Club converted a tennis court, the noise debate went to the town, and in March 2026 Tiburon voted to extend the club’s pickleball hours. Here’s where to play.

Private clubs are adding it too, including Marin Country Club and Rolling Hills Club. If pickleball matters to you, tell me, and I’ll point out which neighborhoods are a short walk or ride from the courts.

For the car guys: Club Wheelhouse

Marin finally has a clubhouse for people who love cars. Club Wheelhouse on Paradise Drive in Corte Madera is a newer addition, and it calls itself a home away from home for the automotive-inspired. It’s part clubhouse, part co-working space and part vehicle storage.

  • Storage with a concierge: private, alarmed and monitored storage in southern Marin and Sonoma, with delivery, detailing and even DMV help. That’s a big deal here, because a lot of beautiful Marin homes have one- or two-car garages.
  • The social side: member gatherings and events, plus a space you can rent for private and nonprofit events.
  • Track time: the Classic Cup Series puts members in Porsche GT3 Cup cars at Sonoma Raceway.

Financing in Marin. Many Marin homes need jumbo financing: the 2026 conforming limit here is $1,249,125, so with 20% down, homes above about $1.56 million usually mean a jumbo loan. My husband Michael DiVita is a mortgage broker and owner of DiVita Home Finance, with access to 40+ wholesale lenders, and he’s a great resource for jumbo and bank-statement loans.
